That’s an excellent question. They must have been running very slowly, because as I’ve mentioned before, the more you spend on shoes, the faster you go. There are even “barefoot shoes,” so you can spend money on shoes but still experience all the pain of running in bare feet. I think the real solution to this dilemma is to sell “invisible shoes,” so everyone can see your disgusting runner’s toenails without you posting a picture of them on Facebook (not that you wouldn’t still post a picture of your disgusting toenails on Facebook), and you get the benefit of spending money so you can run faster. Problem solved!
